  • EC, like Christiania, would accept the deal to integrate into the Danish state, instead of directly combating the gangs.

    Infoslide

Christiania is a commune in Denmark founded in 1971 on an abandoned military base, under the ideals of anarchism and collective property. In its early stages, the 600 inhabitants of Christiania created a closed and self-sufficient society that ignored Danish authority, creating a society where the only norms were: 1. Prohibit violence. 2. Prohibit the use of hard drugs. 3. Promote collective property. The community remained isolated during the 90s, but by the 2000s, they began to have conflicts with local gangs trying to introduce Christiania to the drug market. In response to this, the Danish government offered to give the community its protection in exchange for integrating into the country's social democratic system which would imply: 1. Subject to all laws and regulations of the Danish state. 2. Open up to the public. 3. Pay taxes and receive public services from the state. 4. Each inhabitant must buy a piece of land and turn it into their private property. On the other hand, some members of the community proposed the temporary suspension of the prohibition of violence with the purpose of arming themselves and directly combating the gang threat.
