  • This house would grant Balochistan special autonomous status

    Infoslide

A special autonomous status grants a region self-governance distinct from other administrative divisions, as seen in Hong Kong and Macau. Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest province by area, is resource-rich but remains underdeveloped. The ethnic Baloch population has long protested political marginalization, economic exploitation, and cultural suppression. These grievances have fueled separatist movements, including the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which seeks full independence.

  • This house, as Moses, would accept the dream as a divine calling and abandon his princely life in Egypt.

    Infoslide

Ancient Egypt was one of the most powerful civilizations in the world, where Israelites (a growing minority population) were seen as an internal threat and subjected to enslavement, used as labourers to build Egypt’s monumental cities and temples. The Pharaoh, fearing their increasing numbers, ordered the death of all newborn Hebrew boys. To save her son, Moses’ mother placed him in a basket along the Nile. As fate would have it, he was found, adopted and raised by the Pharaoh’s daughter, the princess who was also sympathetic to the plight of the Israelis. Raised as an Egyptian prince, Moses grew up with unparalelled access to education, power, and privilege, indistinguishable from the ruling elite. Moses' own mother was his wetnurse, and he grew up in knowledge of his Hebrew heritage. Moses then experiences a dream (commonly considered to be divine calling) which calls upon him to save the Israelites. Moses then would have to abandon his princely life in Egypt for an Exodus leading the Israelites in a journey through the desert with limited resources, instability and uncertainty - in search of the Promised Land.

  • This House believes that ethnically and culturally diverse countries should adopt a prescriptive, rather than descriptive approach in language policies in their official language.

    Infoslide

There are two main approaches to language policies: The prescriptive language approach aim to set a clear standard for how a language should be used. They define what is considered “correct” or “incorrect” and are often taught in schools(e.g. saying “I did well” is correct, “I did good” is wrong). The descriptive language approach aim to record and reflect how people actually use a language in real life. They do not judge whether a way of speaking or writing is “right” or “wrong.”(e.g. accepting “I ain't going” as valid).
