  • This house would choose to forgo the surgery

    Infoslide

You are an individual who just got diagnosed with Hanahaki disease, a fictional illness caused by unrequited feelings in which flowers grow in your lungs. The disease can be treated by a surgery which extracts both the flowers and the feelings attached to it. The disease cures itself when the feelings are returned, however if left untreated, the disease is lethal.

  • This house would abandon all attempts to remember in favor of starting a new life

    Infoslide

You woke up in an unfamiliar place with no memory about your life or yourself. No one seems to recognize you or know who you are, but you are currently working with physicians and authorities to get your old life back.

  • This house supports the use of performance-enhancing neurostimulation devices (e.g., tDCS) under medical supervision in competitive esports.

    Infoslide

Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) is a non-invasive brain stimulation technique that uses a low electrical current applied to the scalp to modulate neuronal activity. It is being studied for its potential to enhance cognitive functions like attention, memory, and learning. It is generally regarded as safe but has rare reported cases of skin irritation, headaches and seizures. In the present, there is no reliable data on its long- term usage

  • This house believes that states should invest in dendritic cell vaccine research over expanding traditional cancer chemotherapies (i.e. use of classic cytotoxic agents that indiscriminately target all rapidly dividing cells).

    Infoslide

Dendritic cell vaccines are a personalized cancer treatment that uses the patient’s own dendritic cells, which help the immune system recognize threats. These cells are taken from the blood and trained in the lab with pieces of the patient’s tumor called tumorassociated antigens (TAAs). When put back into the body, they activate special immune cells called T cells to find and destroy cancer cells. In the Philippines this is offered in a limited capacity by the Lung Center of the Philippines and The Medical City among others. A meta-analysis of six randomized controlled trials with 347 brain cancer patients found that dendritic cell vaccines alone improved overall survival compared to placebo (31% reduction in risk, 95% Confidence Interval, p = 0.03).

  • This house would stagnate the development of brain organoid research.

    Infoslide

Brain organoids are tiny, simplified versions of the human brain grown from stem cells in the lab. They have demonstrated sentientlike neural activity, and ongoing research suggests they may develop increasingly complex, higher- level consciousness over time. Scientists are now integrating brain organoids with AI models to explore their potential in performing complex tasks and advancing neurotechnology.

  • This house regrets the general philosophy of viewing most organisms traditionally classified as parasites as pathogens rather than endosymbionts.

    Infoslide

On one hand, pathogens are organisms that cause harm or disease to their hosts. On the other hand, endosymbionts live inside a host and typically provide mutual benefits or coexist without causing significant harm most of the time. Organisms traditionally classified as parasites include hookworms, tapeworms, and amoeba species.

  • This House prefers the graduate model of licensed professions to the undergraduate model

    Infoslide

There are two models that academic institutions use to award practitioner licenses and education in licensed fields (e.g. law, medicine etc.). The first is the graduate model, where students pursue an advanced degree in their licensing field after completing an undergraduate degree in a different field. Under the graduate model, students apply and study in a designated school or institution for their field (e.g. law school, medical school). The second model is the undergraduate model, where students pursue a skilled degree and practitioner license as part of their first, undergraduate degree, as they would in any non-licensed field.

  • This House believes that Neuralink does more harm than good to humanity.

    Infoslide

Neuralink is a neurotechnology company founded by Elon Musk in 2016 that develops brain-computer interface (BCI) devices. These devices implant flexible electrodes into the brain to record and stimulate neural activity, allowing direct interaction between the brain and external systems. Its initial applications focus on enabling individuals with neurological conditions, such as paralysis, to control devices through thought. The technology involves the collection and transmission of brain data to external platforms managed by private entities, and is currently undergoing clinical trials to evaluate its feasibility and safety.

  • This house, as a parent, W make their child undergo lifting

    Infoslide

Lifting is a form of early genetic enhancement where embryos are edited to promote advanced cognitive development — such as improved memory, faster information processing, and higher problem-solving abilities. The procedure is generally effective but is associated with a 30% increase in the risk of certain chronic conditions later in life (such as autoimmune diseases or neurodegenerative disorders). There is also a minor risk of complications during the enhancement process itself, including higher infant mortality rates compared to non-edited births.

  • This house believes that the state should subsidize the research and manufacture of GLP1 products (i.e. Ozempic)

    Infoslide

GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonists are a class of medications originally developed to treat Type 2 diabetes. In recent years, they have also been approved or prescribed for weight loss. These drugs mimic a hormone that regulates appetite and insulin production, leading to reduced hunger and slower digestion. Common GLP-1 medications include semaglutide (marketed as Ozempic and Wegovy). They have gained global attention for their effectiveness in significant weight loss, and are increasingly used by both diabetic and non-diabetic individuals

  • This House believes that non-gendered research in the field of medicine and healthcare has brought more harm than good

    Infoslide

"Non-gendered" research refers to research where the subject pool is chosen without regard or record of gender identity, and how diseases and/or drugs may impact people with different genders. Examples of gendered research are autoimmune disorders, alzheimers, certain cancers. Examples of non-gendered research include AIDS, certain generic drugs, etc.
