This could include (but is not limited to) increased votes or power on councils and working groups at organisations like the Security Council, the International Monetary Fund, World Trade Organisation etc. Financial reparations predominantly take the form of direct cash transfers, debt relief or lump sum grants and payments.

They have their own governance structures and do not report to or pay taxes to any authority outside of their commune. An empire is a political unit made up of many territories and peoples, usually through conquest. It has a central supreme authority or central government, usually an emperor or empress, exercising political control over subordinate peripheries.

  • This house supports the agreement between the US and Panama

    The Darién Gap is a 60-mile stretch of dense rainforest on the border of Colombia and Panama. It's the only land route connecting Central and South America. It’s made up of mountainous terrain, swamps and rivers. Migrants crossing face threats of physical and sexual violence from criminal groups. In July this year, The United States and Panama made a deal to reduce the number of migrants crossing the Darién gap on their way to the United States. This includes an agreement that the US will pay for the repatriation of migrants who enter Panama illegally, US training of Panamanian personal to screen and deport migrants, and barbed wire fencing throughout the jungle to discourage crossing.

CIs are funded and arranged by the Chinese Ministry of Education, with the stated aim of promoting Chinese language and culture, supporting international teaching of the Chinese language, and facilitating cultural exchanges. Recently there has been a trend of Western universities (e.g. in the US, Sweden, the Netherlands) closing the CIs on their campuses, citing concerns about potential political influence or limiting academic freedom.

    On December 8th, Syrian rebel fighters captured the Syrian capital of Damascus, toppling the Assad regime that had held power since 1971. In response, President Bashar al-Assad resigned and fled to Russia. There are three major factions that now control territory in Syria: Hay'at Tahrir al- Sham (HTS), the Syrian National Army (SNA), and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). HTS is an Islamist group primarily based in northwestern Syria, and it led the most recent offensive against the Assad regime. The SNA is a Turkish- backed group based in the north. The SDF are a primarily Kurdish militant group in the northeast, historically backed by the United States. HTS has appointed a caretaker government to serve until March 2025.

    BRICS is a group of emerging economies created to coordinate its members’ economic and diplomatic policies, found new financial institutions, and reduce dependence on the U.S. dollar, such as through establishing the New Development Bank (NDB) and Contingent Reserve Arrangement (CRA) as alternatives to Bretton-Woods institutions. BRICS current has 9 member states: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates. BRICS recently offered invitations to 13 nations to become partner countries, including four in ASEAN (Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam).

    The Zuni tribe is a Native American tribe that has been settled for centuries in a small village in New Mexico. It possesses a unique, intransferable skill for performing rituals that allow for weather manipulation – calling for rain, storms, changing the intensity of sunlight, etc. The weather control ritual requires a significant amount of energy from the entire tribe, has limitations regarding frequency (there must be a break for regeneration between performances), and a limited geographical range. Additionally, the knowledge of their ability to control the weather is currently known only to the Zuni tribe.
