However, his sovereignty has been challenged by an adversary, Killmonger, who plans to abandon the country's isolationist policies and begin a global revolution.* * Note: Only information which can be inferred from the infoslide should be used in the debate. • This house believes that you should wake the other deer up

    Infoslide

In Nara Park, there are many deer, and their favorite food is "Shikasenbei," which they are fed daily by tourists and local residents. Imagine you are one of these deer. One day, you suddenly gain human-level cognition and realize that the deer in Nara Park were originally as intelligent as humans, but their intelligence has been suppressed by a chemical in the "Shikasenbei." For the purposes of this debate, you have a sufficient number of "Shikacookie" that, if a deer eats it, can develop immunity to the chemical in the regular "Shikasenbei" and regain human-level cognition. Now you have two choices. 1\. Distribute the "Shikacookie" to the other deer and wake them up 2\. Keep consuming "Shikasenbei" and gradually return to deer-level cognition

  • This house supports the widespread and accessible availability of iForgor

    Infoslide

iForgor is a technology that allows you to forget any person. If you forget them, memories or experiences associated with them do not disappear, but the role of that person in that memory disappears. For instance, if Andre and Emily are best friends and Andre uses iForgor, Andre will forget that they ever knew Emily, and if they meet will not recognise Emily. Andre will still remember anything they did together, likely with some confusion. The memory cannot be brought back, nor can you be convinced that the other person was in your memory - it would feel like a mere fiction. It is used unilaterally, and it must be with the user’s consent. In this world, everyone refers to it as iForgor, and the finalists should do the same.

  • This house regrets the BIOSECURE act.

    Infoslide

Under the BIOSECURE ACT, passed in 2024, the Biden Administration disallows American firms to form new ties and dissolve existing ties with Chinese healthcare companies (for eg- genomic sequencers, makers of sequencing machines and makers of large-molecule drugs). It extends the ban to any biotech firm with its headquarters in an adversary country, and mentions four Chinese companies by name. A survey in May 2024 conducted by the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) on 124 large healthcare companies found that 79% have at least one contract with or purchase one product from China-owned or China-based clinical data management organisations. For the purposes of this debate, this Act will be in effect immediately.
