China has tried to invest heavily in Greenland's economy by building 7 different airports in Greenland contracted to Chinese companies, and starting multiple mining projects. US, has opened up a consulate in Greenland, and has tried to increase iits presence in nearby military bases. Looking at Chinese investments US has previously lobbied to Denmark (Greenlands, closest political ally) to fund the airports projects which led to Denmark now funding 2/3s of Greenlands airport projects after blocking the Chinese deal.
