Unlike regular saints they lived lives that the church considers sinful. They are popular in many regions especially in Latin America. Examples include Sarita Colonia that answers the prayers of sex workers & LGBT people; and Juan Soldado that answers the prayers of people who commit low-level crimes out of financial desperation.

First published in March 1930, the Motion Picture Production Code (popularly known as the Hays Code) was a set of censorship guidelines. These included that homosexual characters could not be represented in the media unless they were villains.

    The Harry Potter saga has had an impact in different areas. Due to its thematic and narrative characteristics, it motivates children and young people to read. Some of the values interpreted in the saga include diversity, acceptance, and political tolerance. It has inspired the creation of communities around history, being a significant element in the identity development of some people. In recent years J.K. Rowling author of the saga has found herself immersed in controversial situations. In 2020, after the publication of tweets with transphobic content, she received strong criticism from different organizations, social groups and personalities with media relevance. Consequently her actions were radicalized by making academic publications about her position and using her resources and platform to defend her.
