As the world’s largest economy for much of the past century, it has shaped global trade rules and financial institutions. Most international transactions are done in USD, making it easy for the U.S. to impose sanctions, borrow cheaply, and control access to global markets. Its extensive military network allows it to project power worldwide, and its large economic influence often translates to significant diplomatic influence. However, its position as a global superpower has been challenged in recent years, political instability during the Trump administration weakened international alliances, and the rise of countries like China has introduced serious competition in economic, military, and technological arenas."
