Western Role- Playing Games (WRPGS) may have similar gameplay with JRPG, but they differ significantly in terms of the former's emphasis on action over story-telling. WRPGs are also known for offering more player choices and exploration as opposed to linear story-telling that most JRPGs have. This distinction does not extend to where the game is developed, as a JRPG can be developed by a Western developer and the other way around, albeit uncommon. Examples of JRPGs include Final Fantasy series, Kingdom Hearts series, Shin Megami Tensei series, etc. Examples of WRPGs include The Elder Scrolls series, Dragon Age series, Baldur's Gate series, etc.
