    Infoslide

The "Pact of Forgetting" (Pacto de Olvido) in Spain is an example of post-autocracy transition; after Franco's death, the left and right parties of Spain agreed not to confront the legacy of the civil war or facism under Franco. This gave amnesty for crimes during the civil war and under facism but also did not valorise or memorialise the Francoist regime.

For the purposes of this discussion, a cultural trauma is defined as a painful episode in the history of a nation or group of people. this is occasionally caused by some event that has had a significant relevance in the history of a country. Examples like this can be seen: The Tlatelolco massacre in 1968, the defeat in Vietnam embedded the American collective imagination and the diaspora of Vietnamese migrants or the Holocaust for the Jewish community. 'Narrative A' consists of an approach that deals with the search for cultural elements far removed from that event, such as historical commemorations and celebrations. While 'Narrative B' is based on delving into the causes and ravages that occurred, including testimonies and descriptions of the violent episodes.
