    Nadhlatul Ulama (NU) is the largest Islamic organisation in the world, with an estimated membership of between 40-95 million people. It is based in Indonesia, and subscribes to what it describes as 'Humanitarian Islam' , which is explicitly supported of the UN Declaration of Human Rights and broadly moderate. The Rashtriyah Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is an Indian Hindu nationalist, right-wing paramilitary organisation that has a strong presence within the BJP. Narendra Modi is a former RSS member. Nadhlatul Ulama and the RSS have had an ongoing dialogue since 2019 concerning the interpretation of Islam and its role in India, Nadhlatul Ulama having now formally issued a condemnation of the notion of the 'kafir', or 'infidel', instead calling for non-Muslims to be considered 'citizens' by Indian Muslims in exchange for a promise that the RSS would moderate it's opposition to Islam.

This arrangement guarantees these regions significant autonomy except in foreign affairs and defense. Earlier this week, the Supreme Court said U.S. Border Patrol agents could remove razor wire that the state put in place along the Rio Grande River. The Homeland Security Department is demanding immediate access to a section of the border and being blocked with razor wire and fencing. But Texas Governor Greg Abbott is doubling down, blocking the agents from entering the area and saying Texas constitutional authority is — quote — "the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary."
