The technology and researches used to build the vaccine today (and any other essential medicine that Janssen Pharmaceuticals made) was from the accumulation of knowledge and past researches of the Institute of Tropical Medicine founded by King Leopold during his imperialism in Congo. The money used to found the Institute of Tropical Medicine at that time were from the extortion of resources in Congo done with inhumane methods such as slavery torture and other inhumane practices.

  • Assuming that the policies are exclusive, the Saharawis should continue their struggle prioritizing the recovery of the territory rather than demanding the holding of the referendum.

    Infoslide

Western Sahara appears on the United Nations list of Non-Self-Governing Territories or pending decolonization but has been recognized by more than 80 countries. In 1976, with the Madrid Agreement, Spain ended its presence in Western Sahara, renouncing its responsibilities with respect to the territory, thus leaving it de facto under the administration of Morocco and Mauritania in the areas that each of them controlled in exchange for contracts for the exploitation of natural resources such as phosphate, oil and fishing that continues today. Within the agreement, a referendum was promised to the people of Western Sahara (Saharawis) to define their independence consented by the signatory parties. The referendum has never been held due to delays by Morocco, whose current position is to deny it and instead celebrate an autonomy agreement but under Moroccan sovereignty. Many Saharawis have been forced to live in refugee camps in the middle of the Algerian desert in the face of Moroccan repression and persecution, but in 2020 they decided to take up arms against Morocco. However, there is a great asymmetry in human, arms and economic resources.
