    The strategy of the “cordon sanitaire” involves all major political parties agreeing to refuse cooperating with far right political parties. Some Cordon Sanitaires that currently exist are in Germany on the federal level against the AFD, in Portugal against Chega, in the European Parliament against the ID Group, and in France against the Front National. Cordon Sanitaires against the Netherlands’s PVV, Sweden’s Sweden Democrats, and Estonia’s Conservative People’s Party have been broken recently with their far right parties joining broad right wing coalitions led by the center-right.

This is done through maintaining uniform policies (those without group-specific variations), promoting a common culture/language, having a majoritarian democracy, etc. It accepts diversity in private spheres but does not believe it should be institutionalised. Conversly, the accomodationist model seeks to protect national diversity. This is done through representative governance, public acceptance of different identities, power-sharing agreements, etc.

This has resulted in sizeable casualties (a dozen deaths and thousands that are injured, trapped in mountaineous terrains). The region is facing infrastructural damage that's disrupted people's businesses and the government's ability to provide advanced state services to all. Amidst this, China has offered Taiwan disaster relief assistance, with it being rejected by Taiwan due to the two's hostile geopolitical tensions.
