    The "midnight library" refers to a personalized hypothetical library where an individual has access to millions of books, each representing how their life might have gone had they made a different decision at a certain point in their life. Each book is titled with the alternate decision that could have been made. Once a book is opened, the visitor is transported to an alternate reality where they are the exact same age they are now, and live in that world for a few hours before they are transported back to this world.     After Ash’s death, Martha, his pregnant wife, purchased an artificial version of him. From a messaging bot, Martha activates an android that looks exactly like her boyfriend. This version of him contains past online communication messages, social media profiles, videos, and photos which are all curated to imitate Ash’s behavior and personality. Despite the android’s lifelike appearance and responsiveness, Martha becomes frustrated with the reality that he will never truly come back to her life again. Carrying their child, Martha needs to decide what to do with the android.
