  • This house supports the ICC adopting the "two tier system" for test cricket

    Infoslide

"Test cricket is the most traditional format of cricket where each match takes place over up to 5 continous days, with about seven to eight hours of play on each day. The World Test Championship (WTC) is a two year league based championship that involves the top 9 ranked teams playing bilateral test cricket, with each team playing an equal pre-determined number of home and away series. The top 2 teams at the conclusion of the league stage play the WTC finals. There is no promotion or relegation mechanism for the WTC. Currently, test cricket follows the WTC format. Recently, the International Cricket Council (ICC) also discussed an alternate plan to streamline test cricket into 2 divisions of 6 teams each, with the top 6 teams forming the first division and the next 6 teams forming the second division. The "two tier system" as described above would have a promotion and relegation mechanism similar to that of club football."

    Infoslide

In the novel “Ignorance” by Milan Kundera, Josef emigrates from Czechoslovakia to Denmark while fleeing Soviet occupation. In Denmark, he marries the love of his life. When his wife eventually passes away, Josef begins honoring her memory by maintaining habits as if she were still with him (e.g., having everyday “conversations” with her grave, maintaining their shared house the way she would want it, visiting her favorite restaurants on their anniversaries). Josef visits Prague after the collapse of the USSR, only to discover that his homeland has been transformed by tourism and resentment toward returnees. During this time, he meets Irena, a fellow returnee who shares his frustrations with his homeland, and the two sleep together. The two are growing romantically interested in one another. For this debate, Josef, now in his 40s and on vacation from his low-paying job in Denmark, is considering accepting a higher-paying job offer in Prague.
